General Motors Halts EV Production in Canada

General Motors is suspending operations at a Canadian EV factory as it struggles to find material supply to keep up with demand.

According to The London Free Press in Ontario, Canada, GM is halting production for a month at the CAMI EV factory.

Union sources, speaking to Journalists, said workers had been ‘idled’ as the plant grapples with battery shortages.

“They’re out at all GM plants, they need batteries and it stems from a raw material bottleneck,” Union representative Mike Van Boekel said.

“Sales are through the roof. Things are good, but we just don’t have batteries.”

The pant produces the BrightDrop cargo van, but high demand for GM’s Ultium battery and limited production will shutter the plant, the newspaper said.
